Steering parts
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:53:32 PM »

I need to replace the steering arms/rods on my CJ6, being a genuine RHD they are completly different to that of a LHD or the Haynes manual, from the pictures below can anyone tell me what parts are needed and what each one is called so I can buy replacements. I think the shafts will clean up but its all the tie rod joints etc that I need.

you need a full set of tie rod and drag link ends  the one in the last pic is a special one for right hand conversion that i think can now only be got from light house but they used to use its rarity as an exscuse to bum you

i have a fire new one on the shelf  :icon_biggrin: but its my spare sorry

Lighthouse quoted me in October last year

2 x tie rod ends £8.85 each (presumably right hand thread)
1 x tie rod end £34.50 (presumably left hand thread)
1 x RHD track rod end £40.45 (presumably the fancy one)

All plus VAT and postage  :greggmo:

By the way if you are thinking of fitting power steering at any time you need to put a scallop in the front cross member (like the opposite side has) to allow for the hoses. Better to do it now than be swearing at it later  :icon_winkle:

Thanks for that, yeah I thought it must have been a specialised RHD part, will give Lighthouse a ring on Monday, any ideas on what sort of robbery I should expect to pay?
