whats your opinion on EGR valves? have read conflicting ideas but they seem to lean towards it not being needed on a 2bbl/360 setup. as I understand it just by removing the vacuum pipe disables it but if its not needed recon I'll blank it off

it was an emmisions idea they tried in the 70's to meet california regs, it worked but not half as good as they wanted . does nothing for us over here as our regs aren't that tight so you can blank it off and forget it.

they are desingned to improve the emmissions on a diesel vehicle but they dont really need it volkswagen made an egr valve with an operating butterfly to open and close at idle and driving with little success. In reality not much gain and most people blank them off fully when they start to fail

when I removed EGR vac pipe (hence disconnected/blanked) my MPG dropped 10% - but a lot of my driving is local - when the EGR would be working
Put it back on, it went back up, tried again and dropped same ammount...
