Hi, what fluid do you use in the transfer case of a 98 4 liter GC? (i assume its a 249 TC since its permanent 4wd?)
I see the guide above says Mopar 7176 (isn't that ATF+3?) or Dexron II? in which case should it be ATF+4 now?

Um Thanks, but more confused now, found many threads on there which seem to suggest Mopar transfer case fluid 245-247-249(part no: 05016796AC) is required.
And another that says fiat no longer supply it in quart bottles only 5L

Sorry! just remember seeing the topic while browsing and thought ,that sounds confusing! Thought it might make sense to a GC owner. If nothing else it seems fully synthetic might be the most useful starting place.

The equivalent of Mopar 7176 is ATF+4. It used to be ATF+3.

ok so atf+3 used to be ok but new improved atf+4 is now recomended I feel a sales ploy here

I'd get it in quick before they bring out ATF+5 gold star with wings and leopard skin applicator.

Dexron II or equivalent is fine and cheap as chips.
