AW4 autobox mods. Manual shifting

Had a Friday anorak this evening on Pirate and came up with this.........

$200 plug and play mod for your AW4 that turns it to a manual......... 1234........surprisingly enough :icon_twisted:

and allows torque converter lockout at a flick of a switch.

Use your TCM on road and the plug in off road......

Or ditch the TCM if you've built a rig and just use manual......


Appealed to me so bookmarked it................ don't tell me you've know about this for years......... :jpshakehead:

have known about this for around 5 years, in the states its been a common thing to swap out the standard tj box and put in a aw4 so that they can get get better gas mileage and then do the manual selector as well.

I've got a switch fitted that locks it in second. Was going to fit a torque converter lock out switch but didn't bother in the end.

Seems thats all the kit does........ switches on and off the 3 solenoids.......... with a manly shifter :icon_twisted:

There's stuff out there, try NAXJA.org and Pirate under XJ tech. I think BrettM was the first to build one.
