running fault any ideas
« on: May 31, 2012, 09:45:52 PM »

Well the xj 4.0L was running fine until it just cut out, restarted and cut out again after about 6 secs and now will not start. Yes there is petrol in it and turns over fine but will not fire. It is a 2000 model with no dizzy, no fault codes show on the dash. Any ideas would be great thanks Rob.

crank position sensor or cam position sensor (in distributor on models that have one but later ones still have a sensor I believe)

Best to get scanned for fault codes rather than replace bits by bits
