CJ7 Power steeing parts

Hi I didnt add this in the exchange and mart section because I dont think I'm going to find these. However I am wondering what I can use if I cant find them. Better chance of someone breaking a YJ but I've heard of some sports car steering stuff that can be added under the dash to give extra power to steering. Anyone know if these work with cj7s(1979). I read on here also that xj box will do but will need adaptor for the steering col.
Any input appreciated.

all depends on your current set up. if not currently fitted with P/S then you will need box, pump, brackets and maybe new crank pulley

also the steering boxes are handed a LHD will not fit a RHD but CJ and early XJ are interchangeable, as for the pump recently found that the Mk1 Renault Clio 8 valve is fitted with the same pump (£16 delivered from ebay) although it is cranked over by about 15 degrees, this is not an issue if your doing a conversion as would probably be easier to make a new bracket than find a cheap CJ pump

I did my conversion using an XJ Cherokee as the donor, pulled the box, hoses and steering shaft, I then brought a powersteering pump with the V8 brackets.

As Nosebolt says it all depends on the LHD/RHD setup, mine was RHD so was easy to find the box etc.

So will power steering pump from xj and pump bracket from xj also work on the Cj or Could i get the pump and bracket from a LHD as im over in US next week and just get steering gear box and steering column from RHD XJ here.

get the pump and mounts in the US if you get the chance, they are not handed, just the box and pipes. and check if the crank pulley has a unused belt slot, if not you will need a new bottom pulley
