CJ6 Alternator

Ok the on in the 6 is fooked and it turns out the one in it was off a mk2 cortina, it never fitted right anyway, what on will fit that i can get off the shelf or is it an order job

i will be checking to see if any are left  :003:

would be interestin to know if there is an alternative to one that has been pillaged off other old iron tho

bizarre how a Jeep that started on the button is turnin out to be so wonky

not that i have seen the jeep or know the chap jedi has found but i have found that you could take an old jeep to several places or folk and get several very differing opinions on repairs

could you not use the alternator from an xj and associated bracketry and serpentine belt for an improved system

dont think that will work the yj 4.2 had a serpentine set up but the water pump was reverse rotation to the cj version

If i remember correctly they wanted £180ish +vat when i asked  :jpshakehead: . The earlier motorola ones are £80+vat for some reason

You can't use an XJ one anyway, it is unregulated and would fry the electrics.

Well I didn't even get one with my 360 from BD :003: So I went to the wreckers and found one to suit, I found that a Suzuki Larana (spelling wrong) fitted once I changed the front pulley from multi to V, its also a 100amp version so plenty of grunt. You can make almost anything work it just takes time and patience to find the right one.
