not wanting to seem piky but that would all depend on your final coice of engine the diesel may have difrent rev range also if you say went with a four popper you may get the engine foward enough to get an auto in misubishi perhaps
Have you seen the price of Misubishi engine parts ! A friend had his Shogun overheat and cost of parts (no labour) was over £1500 to repair.
I quite fancy the idea of the 2.4 six cylinder Volvo / VW turbo diesel as it easilly fits into a Jeep in place of the original 6 cylinder AMC petrol. From what I have read it's an easy conversion and just requires the Jeep gearbox redrilling to match Volvo bellhousing.
I've looked into several alternative gearboxes but mating them to the Dana 20 transfer case is going to be difficult so thought I'd stick which original specification uints to make things easier.
