You tried a scrap yard as they are getting more for a good second hand one than they'd get in scrap value.

I would say the battery sulphurated, or the battery was allowed to drain completley before being charged, wet batterys do not like to be drained completley

dont store them on a cold floor as this will kill them quickly. add a lagging jacket around the battery to keep them "warm" aids their life and natural battery drain.

 :die:
had the same problem as NB. happens when they don't get used mine were dry stored in warm garage off floor....
still fOoked after a year...... New battery and regular use of C-Tek charger has stopped that this year. also just saved GC battery that is 2009 and was losing charge as it only gets a use  once a month, now a couple of C-Tek sessions and it's always ready.
just my 2 cents and was £45 well spent in my case :icon_twisted:

First an airflow, then an Optimate kept my original motorbike battery going for 13 years.

Got a c-tek now on a spare jeep one & on the TJ occassionally if required.

Like the hippy says, best £45 you will spend  :icon_winkle:
