Winch mounting
« on: January 10, 2013, 08:12:43 PM »

Hi everyone, just looking for  a bit of advise about fitting a new winch.
I have just aquired a superwinch for my TJ and am going to be fitting it to a standard bumper.
Do i only need to purchase a Winch mounting plate or is there more support needed?
The reason I ask is the mounting plate looks like it bolts to the existing bumper mounting bolts but the plate its self looks too poxy?
Any one shed any light on fitting these?
Cheers

Yes the standard mounting holes will be fine for the winch plate (which you will need) along with a fairlead. The four bolts might be a bastard to get out so take it steady and use plenty of WD40 as if they snap you'll be in a world of shit and swearing

Maybe try some heat on the bolts as well and have some easy outs ready...

:imwitstupid: & can totally vouch about the bolts, spray regularly for a week before doing unlike I did! (ended up with 2 sheared and had to have a nut welded in place!)
