water leak front pillar
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:41:16 PM »

got water coming into the XJ :icon_sad:

passenger foot well filling up.

pulled door seal off in the rain and water is flowing out of the seam that is located behind the seal.

Its coming out at a level about halfway up the screen and flowing down behind gasket and coming in that way.

Only happened in the last week.

Thought might be leaking screen - but don't get how it could get into the pillar, rather than run down back of dash.

Any thoughts - feel like filling it with foam, but want to know where its coming in and why.

I needed to - about 1L in a couple of hours - parked it facing the other way now, see if that helps

you can see the water flowing out of the seam with the door open and seal pulled off - so clear where it is - just where its coming in as I cant see them designing water to run down the inside - but you never know.

is there wires etc run up front passenger pillar?

Has every XJ on here started leaking lately??

Mine's still got a leak - water comes out of the overhead console, and sometimes the passenger carpet is wet. I'm still trying to figure out if it's one leak or two!

Check under the dash on passenger side. If you sit on passenger seat check right side carpet. If its wet its propably heater matrix damage. Maybe you are more lucky than me. I wish you it;)
