97 TJ 2.5 loss of power

A mates 2.5 tj loses power when driven at motorway speeds for 5 mins or so. Its ok round town etc but once its been at 65-70 for a bit loses power and won't rev. Once you've slowed down it goes back to normal. Anyone had a similar fault?
I'm thinking maybe fuel pressure dropping when the pumps working harder or maybe the cat on way out.
Cheers

It may be the Fuel Filter - as the filter gets clogged up the differential pressure across it rises, therefore the pump needs to work harder to flow through the filter. Whilst it may be fine at slow speeds as the flow through the filter is sufficient, at high speeds where the flow is greater, the amount of fuel passed through will limit his top speed and response.

Cat replaced an it's running A LOT smoother.
Made it a junction up the motorway without ending up on the hard shoulder :-)
Thanks for the advice.
