WK tyre valves, how does that work ?
« on: May 24, 2013, 11:22:38 PM »

Had a puncture which needed a repair.  Got it done, threw repaired tyre in the back of the truck, got home, got ready to fit...... tyre flat.... bugger.

Put air in it and found valve was leaking.  Off to halfrauds for valve tool + valves .......

The WK does not seem to have the traditional screw in valves or am I being dim here ?    :017:

I heard (read a post somewhere) about the tyre pressure thinghy and I've already seen the 'low tyre pressure' gizmo flashed up ... so how does that work again ?  Is there a sender in the WK valves or summat and what do I do about that leaky valve anyway ?

From what I understand they are special valves with pressure sensors in them.

SBD commander is the same, he has all sorts of pressure lights now he has taken the standard wheels off.

Yes, tyre pressure sensors are in valves. You need a decent tyre place that can deal with removing and refitting them or go to dealers. The computer has to be adjusted if they are removed and new wheels or standard valves fitted

Flippin 'eck  :icon_eek:

For the time being put 33 psi in them, spat in the valve, fiddled around with it a bit and no bubbles so I'm on a winner  :icon_super:

Trouble is for how long, so it means a trip to the stealer then when it goes tits up  :jpshakehead:

Thanks.

You can get TPMS valves and repair kits on ebay. And compared to dealer prices it's 4 for the price of 1.
