« on: August 04, 2013, 08:21:38 AM »

Guys,

I want to the change the oil in both my gearbox and transfer case...

So, any tips/how to/not to etc on this .. but most important, what oil and/or additives (if any) do I use and where can I get it from..??

I have a '05 TJ with the 6 speed manual gearbox (NSG370)

thx

The transfer case uses any ATF. Jeep just specify whatever ATF is used in the autos for that model year so owners don't have to keep different types of fluid. Not sure what fluids for the later manual transmissions, other than dealer stuff, but I'm sure somebody who does know will be along shortly.

Today's top tip: Undo the fill plugs first. You wouldn't want to drain the fluids and not be able to refill.

Cos of bronze bits and stuff the gearbox needs special fluids......

NV3500 is same ....needs its own fluids available as a Chrysler part no.......got mine from Lighthouse .......01953681237

Your gearbox requires Chrysler spec MS-9224
Or Royal Purple Synchromax
Or Red Line Oil's MTL

takes 2 quarts

Hope that helps :icon_super:

Thx guys ...

Will give these guys a call, and yes, I did read re remove the filler plug first.. Sure it will be an interesting one if the oil is drained and cant fill it again ;)
