Stalling Jeep
« on: August 05, 2013, 06:42:00 PM »

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if a dodgy alternator can cause my jeep not to start when hot or is it more likely to be the crank sensor. There is a drain on battery somewhere but I don't know if its connected to the hot starting / stalling when hot problem, just wanted some advice before I get stuck in. Thanks

First off all you need to find out how many amps the battery is being drained by, you'll need a multimeter and a few spanners. Once your measuring the current drain disconnect the alternator and if this doesn't drop the current then move onto the starter motor.

Your stalling when hot is a different fault altogether IMHO

stalling hot could be 02 sensor,   doe's it run ok when cooled down?    faulty lambda could be making it run rich when up to temp, .......... :icon_winkle:

The jeep runs sweet till I park up or it cuts out, usually on tick over,as soon as it cools down a bit she fires up sweetly and smooth, thanks for getting back to us

Cat and exhaust are fine, in winter it's been fine but as soon as it start to get warmer she plays up.you can drive for miles in hot weather but when you stop she won't start. No codes coming up on key on off system and 5 volts going to cps
