Anybody know of any diff additives that reduce backlash? My XJ has always had a clunk on take up and I was wondering if you could buy something, I saw this on ebay but mine doesn't have a LSD

diff additive won't help backlash that would need a diff rebuild
Try using 140 sae oil if doing off roading or towing

It could be a gearbox mount, don't go messing with the diff until you are certain.

Its definitely not a gearbox mount, its wear and tear on the axle from years and years of going from park to drive. I don't fancy paying out big bucks for a diff rebuild, unless a birtie knows somebody who will do it for cheaper??

If you're certain then I'd say buy the parts from Rockauto, drop it off with Bubba and enjoy the newly rebuilt diff. I'd still open it up and check with a dial gauge before investing several hundred.
