How can I get rid of a bodged immobilizer on my CJ7
« on: May 24, 2014, 04:46:17 PM »

Today was tinker day to get it ready for mot.

After standing for a bit the bl**dy immobilizer decided not to play ball  :011: so I can't even start the thing.

The box is ticking but no go. Wires going all over the place and nowhere and all different colours, cut off ones, thick wires and thin ones. The fob light comes on when I press it so the battery must still be good.

Wish I could just rip the thing out  :010:

You just have to trace them all out and restore the wiring to factory
there mostly connected to the starter and coil
the thick ones are possibly the power or go to the starter
sorry can't be more help

This is the longest shot of all, but one which has worked for me....unhook vehicle battery and place on charger for 2 or 3 hours...reconnect battery and try again.

should be fairly straight forward working out where wires have been spliced since the immobilisers wiring most likely be different to the standard cj wires. downside is how its wired into the ecu

Some wiring diagrams, mainly for a 79, but there is one for an '86 that might help
