zj laredo electrics, alarm not working.
« on: June 08, 2014, 01:55:55 PM »

Does anyone know where the alarm module is on a zj laredo? Its not working any alarm functions, only the immobilizer. Its also keeping the interior lights on and flashing headlights intermittently. I've got lhd wiring diag but there different to rhd. Central locking works and engine immobilizer works but that's it. No horn etc. According to build sheet I have gxmp remote keyless entry with immoblizer. Thanks

It's behind the head light switch panel.
Try disconnecting the battery and charging it overnight.
That may help.
The lid manuals don't show the imobalizer.
It's a UK fit

That's what drew my attention to it, I was charging it in the workshop and noticed the ignition switch lamp didn't go off, thought just a bad door switch so left it. Then few days later only headlights flashing on/off. Traced that till the auto headlamp relay in fuse box doing this which I think is either connected to bcm or alarm. Just found that I probably don't have a full alarm fitted (vtss) so that's why I can't trigger alarm although I have ultrasonic sensors. Interior lights still stay on for a long while once doors closed and even with key on. Sorry for the novel!

Just found out that I had dash dimmer switch up full causing the lights to stay on, didn't even know it did that!
 :banghead:
Where can I get an owners manual to figure everything else out? Interweb is full of lhd versions?

What didn't help was both doom bubs missing so it was only the igntion ring working! I didn't even know the switch did that untill I read it on web. Learn something new every day!

Mine doesn't have the bulb warning setup I think or the displays missing. Its a poverty spec!  Sometimes it flashs headlights with the central locking but its stopped that. Ill put a battery isolater on it and that will cure it! :icon_biggrin:
