Cooling System Gizmo
« on: April 24, 2006, 08:34:35 PM »

I seem to remember reading a topic somewhere regarding a Gizmo called 'Prestone Flush 'N Fill' which someone reccommended for fitting to the cooling system.
I have tried various searches for this and can only find on US websites. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one of these, or do I have to import one from the US. :?:
As the thing only costs about $5 it would probably cost more to get here.

I have used it before, not sure how well it works though. May be snake oil. I can get you some if you want to try it.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing.

This is a gizmo that you fit into the heater hoses so that you can attach a hose to flush the cooling sytem or backflush the raditor/Heater matrix. It also provides a high spot in the cooling system so that you can bleed out any air-locks

AAhhhh got ya, yes I have seen those. I thought you were talking about the acid in a bottle that cleans out the passages in your rad.

You guys are talking about these:

I have a few left, i had some sent over last year. They are a useful piece of kit. Makes flushing the system real easy. And as mentioned it becomes the highest point of the cooling system. Makes filling up without airlocks a breeze. I've got one of each of the Jeeps.

i cant realy see the point in these either. you only need to change the water in the rad now and then anyway and if it is overheating it is down to a blocked core wich is an external problem not a water problem. but it is another gadget i suppose. 8)

As per PM

Have had a look over the Jeep at the weekend and I think the LPG kit is going to make it impossible / TFD for me to fit the kit and use it.

Sorry if I've messed you around - not something I like to do - if you've missed out on selling it, let me know and I'll have it for future use on something else.
