Hi guys, i keep blowing the alternator 1 maxi fuse, i noticed my battery was going flat every couple of days so jumped it and removed the positive cable and it died, that's when i checked the charging circuit and saw the fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse and it was fine on idle but 5 mins into driving the engine died and the fuse had popped again

I had jumped it from flat about a week before and noticed the gauge was hitting about 16v but thought it was because the battery was dead and it went back to normal after a while. im guessing either the regulator is shot or there is a short somewhere. im armed with a multimeter where do i start???
