TJ alarm
« on: May 15, 2006, 08:42:35 PM »

Just wondered if anyone has fitted or can recommend a half decent aftermarket alarm.

Preferably DIY and able to work if the tops left down..

Thanks
Phil

I have a Clifford on mine..., got a Microwave sensor on it so works with hard top, soft top and no top... and because it's not "Volumetric" the roof flap on a windy day doesn't set it off either.

Only downside is a bad downpour, then the drips inside set off the sensor. And is a Kin great seagull lands on the soft top (Or a squirrel) it can detect that too :)

Tis Cat 1 too, Can look up the model number if you like.

A high spec Clifford would certainly be amongst the best.

You can also get some really good Toad alarms.

If you went DIY you would not get the Thatcham approved insurance discount.

Hate alarms. no point. I've got insurance. They can pay out instead.

Cheers Stevos, will look into that,
Did you fit it yourself and was it cheap and easy to do ?

I know what you mean Mike they can be a PITA and no-one takes any notice of them, thats why i dont want to spend too much, but if it deters just one slimy thief then it would be worth it if only to save me some inconvenience..

i agree with the insurance thing. but im caught in the "Its the thing to have in your vehicle bit"

no i did not do it myself cos i am totally useless at things like that so i paid to get it done £200. that was including removing the clifford.

clifford are good , it was just that the 1 that was previously installed into ma jeep had far too many gadgets on it that you just dont need,
