TJ Non Starter....
« on: January 24, 2016, 09:21:37 AM »

I have a problem with my Jeep Wrangler 2.5 petrol , 2000 registration,
1st of all I drove through water about 2-3ft ... water never reached the ECU... I have changed the crank sensor, map sensor, checked distributor, all dry, changed plugs, changed coil pack... No spark at plugs, no pulse at injectors...A few people I have spoke to have said it is the ECU but as yet I am not convinced.. I am now getting a signal up "NO BUS" on dash... I have unplugged all sensors, took out dash cleaned all plugs, sprayed with wd40 and put back on, and still getting the "NO BUS".. volt meter or fuel gauge doesn't register ...the NO BUS takes about 30 seconds to come on... 12 volt power going into the ignition, but only about 2v coming back out... also immobilizer light is now on, any advice please.

First things first, disconnect the battery for 10 mins & see if that re-sets everything.

Re-check for fault codes & go from there

Try disconnecting the pos terminal, touch it to earth and then wait ten minutes and reconnect. That should reset the ECU.

Hook up the diagnostic tool and keep trying as you start to disconnect components one by one. Last time I had this was on James H's XJ, it was the wiring for the crank sensor ribbing through on the exhaust.

As above, code reader not reading anything , while "no bus" is on dash ? Does this mean ECU isn't operating ?

No, if certain components go down, it can pull the CCD bus down, resulting in no diagnostic comms, hence the suggestion to unplug components one by one and keep trying with the scanner.

Sounds a bit basic, have you checked all the fuses behind the glovebox?

Checked all fuses, and what I can see they all look OK...Immobilizer is what I have thought from day 1, one guy says buy an ECU from USA to eliminate the issue.. just want to be 100% before I buy one, and hopefully its a plug n play thing, as cant find anyone up here to recode it or reset mine...
