Oh yes  :D  Much better
Just did a very scientific test, my xj on 30"s is a touch quicker than my mates XJ on 225-70-15s. Get a really nice roar on WOT now too  :D  Will see how the mpg does over the week

steve. in the write up that you posted about this the guy was reboring the throttle body spacer out aswel. my thaughts where that the helix inside the t.b.s is part of why it works so that sort of defies the point of the t.b.s. are you also runnin the t.b.s???

TBS things are snake oil if you ask me (especially the helix ones, dont get me started on them), going to the post 99 manifold maybe, but tuning an inlet mainfold to you exhaust etc isnt something that can be achived with a generic spacer.

Simple fact is boring the TB will give you better flow/more 02, results in better power lower in the rev range hence less throttle for given MPH, probably preaching to the converted here, but 7 pints of Timothy Taylor and I get verbal dihoreawhatishowdoyouspellit.

Have you tried a 4litre TB on your 2.5, ment to be a good tune up (go on, nick it off mandas for a test)

All I can say is I have gained noticable power throughout the revs range, and lost no MPG, down side is a very slight whistle at 2000rpm, no lost to me.

As I understood it the major benefits of a larger throttle body were to airflow at WOT and higher in the rev range.

The 4.0l TB on a 2.5 is a good one, so is a 68mm TB from a V8 WJ on a 4.0l  :twisted:

Don't see how the helix helps the air when it has to do 2 90deg turns before it gets to the in port

Anyway if you do have a TBS how do they act when you already have a K&N panel filter fitted?

Is it a even bigger power/economy gain?

there is a science in tuning the length of the inlet port to TB distance to tune out resonance, same goes for the exhaust headers, just dont see the science in a hiclone

With all the bolt-on modifications out there you can get up to around 225 BHP from the 190 BHP or so that is standard.

Beyond that you need internal modifications and new cylinder head.
