WJ 2.7 Cruise control
« on: March 07, 2018, 08:39:59 AM »

The cruise control on my 2004 WJ 2.7 suddenly quit. After a few days, it all worked correctly again, but although the "Cruise" light shows on the dash, the "Set" light doesn't show up.

I've changed the brake light switch and it has made no difference.

Any ideas please?
Steve.

Not sure about the WJ, but on the XJ it is vacuum operated and a small airleak could stop the cruise control from working properly.

I assume the controls are on the steering wheel, in which case it could be a bad clockspring.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes the controls are on the steering wheel and they all work as they should, performing all their respective functions.

Initially, when I hit the "Cruise" button, nothing happened at all. Then after a few days it all came back, other than the "Set" light in the dash. The brake light switch has been replaced and the vacuum hoses look fine.

As it works, I guess I'll just have to live with the light not working. No big thing I figure as I have bigger fish to fry in that the dreaded "Black Death" is happening on number 3 &4 injectors. That should keep me busy fro a day or two.

Thanks again. Steve.
