CJ7 V8 Brake servo woes
« on: April 30, 2018, 02:44:24 PM »

The servo looks OK from the outside but is losing vacuum (the master cylinder was leaking so I assume fluid has got into it and damaged the diaphragm?).

I cant find a direct replacement in the UK, but does anybody know if a servo off a 1983 will do the job? (I can get a new one of these for just under £200).

Or is there a better option?

Have you tried the usual suspects summit, rock auto etc. £200 seems a lot.

No reason a later one won't work as long as master cylinder matches, I've got an 80 servo with the bigger 78 brakes

Some people use the later, yj, dual diaphragm booster which apparently works well, and there are plenty of upgraded options on US eBay, might need to change mine soon so looking myself, let me know what you do

If a YJ one works then you should also be able to fit an XJ or WJ one which might be easier and cheaper to get hold of. You would need the master cylinder etc.
