Electrical Problem
« on: July 27, 2006, 08:12:57 AM »

Just changed a head light bulb in my Jeep Cherokee and it has developed an electrical problem. When the lights are switched on, I have no lights, the main beam light is displayed on the dash board and the both indicators show (dash board). I think it may be an earth problem – any ideas?

Just a friendly tip.

You'll get much more joy in the tech section if you put a post in introductions first.

Definitely sounds like an earthing problem. Clean all the teminals and have another go.

You may also have upset the wiring when changing the bulb so the 'bad earth' may not be directly at the bulb.

You'll have to wait for Dr. Mike or some of the other XJ owners.

Don't know what year your XJ is but pre facelift or pre 97 had a connector under the drivers headlight that got filled with crap and corroded nicely, I suspect you've disturbed that.
Do a search on the web and I think you may find a lot of info, in fact do a search on here and you'll find it I think
