Fresh from cheapfest in our lowslung stock tj thoughts stray to liftkits

So would appreciate some thoughts on how to lift,body or suspension(thats the jeeps not mine :? .Running bfg mt 31s.Dont want to spoil onroad handling (wifey can kill!) and dont want to spend a lot!!( I'm a yorkshireman damn it!) You never know it might even get done for cheapfest 07 :wink:

My personal choice is Teraflex, there's a few of us running their kits now. Flex is good (see avatar) on road handling feels better than stock. Price is good too.

we have a teraflex 2" lift with skyjacker shocks and a 1" body lift

Its the same as Manda's, we saw how it worked so well

The way i see it, which is probably cloudy, but you have a few options...

A 1" body lift will give you a bit more clearance and keep your stock springs, cheap and easy to do...

or if you want a bit more, coil spacers fit onto your stock springs with longer shocks and will give you more like 2" and a bit more clearance..

then there is new springs and shocks, 2" will not need many other mods to work and will probably give you more than 2" in reality.
You wont be dissappointed with the teraflex but mrs bobbin might get pissed off with having to climb in all the time..

Someone else will come along with better knowledge than i, but hope this helps for the mo

I have a second hand OME 2" sitting in the shed.... Stew has first dibs on it, so have a chat with him....

You might need some bolts, but everything else is in there inclusing the disconnects.

Did CF last year with her and was very happy, but went to 33's this year.

31's will make your 5th gear almost useless on a manual.

£100 + getting it to you. (If Stew confirms he doesn't want it)

it's ~ 3 years old and looks tatty (Surface rust on the shocks and springs), but was in full working order when it was taken off a couple of months back.

If you want it Bobbin take up Ed's offer..I rate OME kit but I've got other stuff to sort on the TJ before I can look at further lift options

I was happy with it, but I can only go by the descriptions from others about the change from factory as it had the OME lift on her when I bought her. And it's meant to make the ride "Better than stock"

I certainly don't drive her slowely.

I do reccomend you take your time to read up on the kits available. and talk to your insurance company, you might need to change to sureterm or Adrian Flux (do read up on them, lots of peepes say good things about them, I was just unlucky

) there are others too, but most "Normal" insurance companies suddenly can't insure you after a lift. I'd still rate a tank guard before a lift.. as with a lift you'll try more bits and the tank takes a bashing. (Not sure if you have one fitted or not. again, search on here and generally will tell you loads about them (Kilby do one that fits over the current tank, think "Skid Row" do one too, the Warn one I have replaces the factory guard and lifts the tank a bit too, again there are others.)

Not trying to put you off at all, but hoping to slow your mind and wallet down to make sure you think it through

I've had an OME lift on the TJ and I am well pleased with it, drive hardly changed at all

And it is insured with Adrian Flux who don't penalise you for modding your vehicle
