kj fuel filter

wondering,probly dsft question
have kj crd 2.5 diesel
fuel filter is 65 euros here for one,if you change it 3 times a year,adds up with other things
my question
is there a universial diesel fuel filter unit  i could use ,to change from current one to save abit as i cant buy filters here ,only at dealer,so guess same in uk
if there a universial unit,would it be easy to get filters for it
dont think there a diesel fuel filter like k&n

Your local boy racer shop should have a universal aluminum washable inline fuel filter than you can use for about £10.
They sell them on ebay too. Like this.

DON'T use dodgy filters on a common rail diesel. They require extra fine filtration due to the mega tight working tolerances in the fuel system, it could cost you thousands in damage in the long run.

So mike,should i keep using dealer filter only,or is there something as good,[probly not]

That's a point. However, maybe the answer is to fit a filter that you can afford, like one from a transit TDCi. Ford parts are cheap, and one from a transit will give the thruput you need for your bigger engine and the filtration for a CRD.

I've seen tests conducted on the filtration of oil and air filters, but not fuel.
However, 3rd generation common rail engines (like newer TDCis) use piezo injectors, which need very fine filtration.

3 times a year? you must be doing loads of miles, The change interval is 12000 miles or 12 months IIRC

Nope, not according to the service book in my KJ. 12000 miles.

That other thing on Ebay is the usual snake oil.
