Dana 20 t/box on cj7
« on: April 21, 2007, 11:05:33 PM »

Are all D20's the same, coz although the 2 box's look the same some of the numbers are different.
Also I've been wondering what to do about my broken rear prop. My set up is AMC360, th400, novak adaptor to D20 transfer which makes my rear prop very short and steep with the 4"-4.5" of spring/shackle lift I have. I have a front prop off the original quadratrack setup and I was wondering if it would be acceptable to chop, shorten and reweld this as it has a CV/double carden type joint on it. I would tilt the rear axle up to face the pinion of the trans case and have the CV at the T/C end and the slider at the axle end. Does this sound ok as I'm thinking cheap, or should I dent the credit card and get a prop from Tom Woods as I'm fukwit.

if you measure the running length you need ding, we will get you a price of a custom made one from ims. they will make whatever you want, the guy told us that you an have double c at each end if you like or wide angle yolks which will allow more extreme angles.

i had simular probs with mine in the early days , i run a 360 th400 quadbox t case ,+ short rear prop , had mine cut and rewelded with double card at one end , seams to work well ,
if you can afford an custom one , do it ,   gregmos man sounds like a plan to me
like bubba says you can`t move the pinion up too far as the oil wont get round pretty sure mine was about 7 degrees

card  at tc end and slider at axle end is the same as mine mate

Thanks guys, think I'll go for a new prop, piece of mind don't want the same thing happening again. I'll measure up when it's all back together, might be a bit yet T/C still in bits, rear axles off etc.
