triple wiper modification
« on: July 15, 2007, 01:54:20 AM »

I want to change the existing 2 blades to three - so I'm not the only person who can see through the loads of liquid sunshine we have had this "summer".

I have no experience of doing this so would appreciate any advice on how to go about it
e.g. can you run one arm from the motor to the two existing blades then from the second bade to a third?
Or should I go for a send motor to drive the thrid blade - but how would I get the motors in sync?
Should I upgrade the existing motor?
(My J26 was built in 1975).

Currently the blades and motor (inside cab) are mounted on the top of the windscreen. Its a soft top so there, hopefully, shouldn't be too much of a problem getting at the arm\links and stuff.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

the normal mod to swap to three wipers involves redilling holes for the wiper motors. this so that all three arms have an equal spacing across the screen so that they dont foul with each other. the one motor should be able to cope but the connecting arms could be a bit of a pain to sort out.
