Well i did get it cheap
« on: July 16, 2007, 03:39:06 AM »

I seem to have l a brake issue

this is a picture of my rear  Rubicon Axle, It arrived this week and this is what I found while unwrapping it.

Before I install it, I need to do something about the stub of a hard brake line. Its broken off with about a 1" stub left.    Is this something that can be readily fixed?

Will it be possible to flare the end and plumb in a new line?
Can it be heated and removed from the block , and a new line soldered in?
Can I remove the block and install another,
or do I have to fill in the existing holes, and install a new "t" on of the existing block, to run the brake lines
Is this something I need to load up and have a pro repair? any help would be appreciated...

Cheers ,    Martyn

you will find that it is part of the rear flexible hose, simply replace the hose and whooola.

Yup. the block is the fitting on the end of the flexi hose. Unscrew the breather fitting that holds it to the axle along with the 2 hard lines and fit a new hose.

not enough space to use a flaring tool, just remove the block and fit a new line with the block attatched to it

Thanks for the info guys , I thought it was completly knackered.

Seems my Haynes manual ( along with ramps, jack stands , and pressure washer) went out on loan while I was in Mexico. I returned with a  T shirt and torn muscle.
