rear disk brake conversion- 97 Tj

have seen the ssbc in the 4wd catalogue

does it meet UK spec for the handbrake(MOT) and is it the only option ??

and i need to fit it myself, not paying mdg etc  :wink:

i know matt the sign has a new never fitted ssbc kit for sale................i would give van a call http://http://www.vancopbs.com/ you will be amazed at what the man knows about brakes.

i fitted one of these kits to my one scrambler it was an excellent up grade and i don't normally empress to easy but i will fit there kits again to my other scramblers when cash allows very complete kit and good destruction quality bits

that's the mark gasser from mdg rear brake system, works well i had it on a previous wrangler.


use the transmission e-brake those tiny e-brake shoes inside the rear disc have a nasty habit to self destruct.

i know a couple of the guys off J33p have got them fitted
they say they work fantastic and can be fitted in about 2 hours

just be aware the caliper fits on the bottom, so when you come to bleed the brakes you need to hold the caliper upright to bleed at first then bolt it on  :shock:

for cjs they are deffo still cable handbrake that operates directly upon the caliper not like the ones that just operate mini shoes the rover ones i think are from the 800 series i used to find working on fleet cars that they were terrible to wind back for shoe replacement and often a new caliper was the only solution on the cjkit at least the caliper is in the normal position ruther tha at the bottom 2hours i think may be a tad optimistic but dang its worth a try
