Checking in my manual for the correct axle oil for my 1994 xj cherokee, see that you use 75w90 synthetic. But you can use 75w140 for trailer towing duty. Would the heavier weight oil improve the LSD judder at low speed? Both with the additive added.

I used the royal purple 75 90 and it stopped all the crappy noises comming from my LSD, and I gained about 5 MPG when I changed the whole Jeep to RP.

It's the additive that changes the oil's friction properties to reduce the shudder.

I have done the oil change now thanks, Royal purple seems hard to get hold of here, but does seem to have good reviews by the racing clubs for all their products.
But i opted for 75w140 fully synthetic by castrol, the highest weight oil specified in the owners manual.
There is still a slight axle pinion whine but the annoying juddering has gone. So well pleased with it. Cost £13 per litre, so 2 bottles of that and its had a good effect.
Now I use it every day its getting more use than before and no judder yet.
Also didn't put any additive in.

unless the rp contains the lsd additive you must put it in or you will kill your lsd plates all together mate.
