Jeep mechanics near Kidderminster
« on: February 05, 2008, 08:12:35 PM »

Hi

Does anyone know of any good mechanics that are OK with Jeeps in the Kidderminster area. My XJ is in need of a bit of TLC and an MOT. If anyone has any ideas can they let me know. Thanks

Also is there someone near by or even not so nearby that could build and fit an external roll cage to an XJ?

Thanks in advance.

Dan

was going to sell it and buy a Jimny, but I keep changing my mind. And I got too much money in it and its worth bugger all! so I may chuck more money at it so that its still worth bugger all, aaaaahhhhhgggggg I can't help it, its a Jeep!

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

The Jeep needs a few bits doing to it to make it OK,

there is a strange engine problem that seems to hold it back at high revs, this first materialised under gas but i kinda blamed the gas system, it is now doing on petrol too so I think its intake or ignition related.
I need an exhaust as it was a bit ropey and then I really dinged it at Cheapfest (hell yeah) the Jeep runs without a CAT and passed the emissions on Gas, but I will Probably want a CAT on it for the MOT.
I need a horn wiring up as I put a MOMO wheel on it and butchered the existing wiring, Air horn with dash switch would be easiest.
The thingy that stops it starting in anything other than park or neutral is on its way out as most often it needs a wiggle on the shifter to get it to start.

then it needs an MOT and anything doing that didn't pass.

I would also like someone to have a good look over it, in particular to check the floor behind the sills is OK and if necessary treat it.

Problem is I have no workshop facilities or any skills in this area, I am also short of time, too much work!!

Steve The roll cage is something I would like to do if funds allow, I am looking for an exo cage. I would also like some bumpers fabbed up to include a winch mount for the front, but the cage and bumpers are at the end of the list I will give you a call when I get the Jeep back on the Road.

Bubba, does your garage do MOT's or can you get them done? I am in Kidderminster so can get it trailered up to you easily enough.
