Grand Cherokee Problems.
« on: April 04, 2008, 12:24:05 AM »

Hi there,

This is my first post so please be patient with me.

I have a 97 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 and I have a couple of problems with it.

1. I cant get the headlights to align properly. I have noticed that the clips are broke that connect the lamp to the ballstuds/adjuster screw. I have tried to buy the clips from chrysler but no joy. They state I need a new haedlight unit on jeepsunlimited I found out that you can buy those clips but cant get the correct part number????
2. As it has been sitting it now wont start. The battery is flat and wont jump start. The car just clicks once and nothing?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Barry.

Had a look at the parts list, but the headlamp page is crap, to be honest. Lots of descriptions of parts but not many illustrations. Also, your headlamps are specific to the UK, so it can't be assumed that the part you're after is actually available separately as it is in the States.

Look at this sticky http://www.birtydastardsjeepclub.com/fo ... php?t=6605 and you can download a parts list (albeit for a 96 model) from xjjeeps. You might see the part you're after.

I sent the guy a PM as he said that he got some from the states. But it is a very old post. Dont know if he still uses the site.

Ok, the parts list also has many parts listed with no illustration.

Best thing would be to ring Lighthouse Jeep (number is in the suppliers section). They're walking Jeep encyclopedias, and will know exactly what you're after and will deliver it the next day.

Check the battery terminals, its possible that one has jumped off (not literally) but although on, it has a bad connection, possibly why it wont jump start.

If you need the white plastic socket that the adjusting ball goes into, fill the empty hole in the headlight shell with quick setting epoxy, coat the ball end of the adjuster with grease and set it in the pool of epoxy till it sets. The adjuster should hopefully still move as the epoxy wont stick to the grease but will have formed a socket round the ball.
