cam belt

hi there just a quikie here, does anybody know of a place in england where i can order a cam belt for my mothers 89 cherokee,its just she lives in gran canaria and its way too expensive over there for parts. thanx wuzzy. :-D

Unless it's a Renault J8S 2.1 diesel, then it's got a chain, not a belt. What exactly is the problem? And what engine is it?

aha ok if the 89 has a chain then its not that she needs,dont really know whats up with hers she just mentioned that i should keep a look out for a timing belt, i,ll ask her and get back to you guys thanx wuzzy.

the problem seems to be a cracked old belt behind the radiator she justs wants to replace it apparently the mech told her it was a cam belt??

Serpentine belt. Local motor factors or Lighthouse Jeep.

It drives the alternator, aircon compressor, water pump, viscous fan and steering pump.

Incidentally, with it being an 89, and Cherokees only being available here in the UK from 93 onwards, you might not be able to get one. Jeep regularly update their parts, and what fits one year often won't fit another.
Try anyway though, cus Crown Automotive are a US company that supply UK motor factors, and they may do a part suitable.

If you can get the length of the original you can get one from your local friendly auto parts supplier, they should match it up for you, also find out how many ribs, think it should be 5 ............
