Need advice RE: driver door window/mirror controls
« on: June 28, 2008, 08:08:41 PM »

Ok cleaned out the jeep today and did some maintenance on it.

One thing that had been bugging me for ages was when ever you opened the driver door the lamp in the door went out and all controls on the door dont work, shut the door and they work fine so i stripped the door card out thinking lose connection had a good look and nothing put it back together worked the same had a feel of the rubber between the door and the car body and from then on it failed to work if it was open or closed.

Any advise? not sure what wire is what inside the door to check voltage etc to see if cables are broken or the door module has gone.

most annoying part is now i have no mirror or window controls :(

Well you have virtually diagnosed this one yourself!
It will be a broken wire in the length that runs from the door through to the body.
Find the multilug in the a posr/footwell area disconnect it and check each cable for continuity or resistance with a multimeter.
doesn't really matter which wire is which, just observe the colours and check individually.

Good luck!

sorry for the delayed response, you don't seem to be getting many answers on this one, i couldnt tell you exactly where the connector would be, just that all cars have a seperation point between the door and body wiring looms.

you will have to check and follow the loom from the door and see where it goes. I am not familiar with your model of Jeep. hopefully someone else with more Jeep knowledge will be able to give you more info.

Pull the rubber boot back between the door and the A post to expose the wiring. Give each individual wire a firm pull from the middle, the one that stretches is broken.
