tyre advise

Probably going to buy some BFG A/T's but what would be the best size for a 99' xj with +2" OME.  235/75 15 or 30/9.50/15? or something else?

Either of those two would be good. Some brands have that size dual marked on the same tyre - my Goodyear AT/Rs did.

With a 2" lift you could even go for 31"'s...

Yes, it's possible but I'd say the gearing change becomes quite noticeable with 31s and is probably only worth it if you want to get maximum off-road potential out of the Jeep (possibly sacrificing some on-road ability)

If you're good with a grinder and feeling adventurous I'm sure we could squeeze 35's under there

So does that mean they are exactly the same size?  according to one of the tyre size convertors the 30" would be slightly taller is this the case?

My BFG 30" muds were more like 29".  BFG are definatly on the small side.
There's usually sets of used BFG's on ebay, that are like a third the price of a set of 4 new.  That way if after two days they start to look small (which they will),  you can sell 'em on and get 31"s.

i've got 2" lift and 31's on my xj and gearing is spot on. the speedo is spot on aswell according to the speed on the sat nav.
Go for 31's they look better aswell.

I used to run 31x10.50x15's AT's on my old TD with a +2 rusty's lift and it was fine other than having to adjust the steering stop slightly to stop them catching the inner arch on full lock.
