Down pipe question
« on: August 27, 2008, 06:46:52 PM »

I noticed the last day when below my XJ that just after the join from Exhaust manifold to down pipe theres like a huge dent on the down pipe part. Looks like its been machine crimped in.
Just wondering if anyone knew why its there? Seem like its for either backpressure or emissions or something but I`m pretty stunned in this department so I`m wild guessing. Anyone shed any light on it? :?:

that dent is nothing the jaguar xk has its exhaust pipe literally flat when it goes over the rear axle and just enough room to get your fingers between it and the body. these flat dents are calculated so as to not affect the back pressure etc
