money to burn help me out (suspensions)
« on: July 04, 2008, 11:34:25 PM »

I've been having a look round at a suspension upgrade.  Want to keep good handling on the road but may as well install a bit of lift at the same time.  So I've researched a bit and two inch will be fine so I've narrowed down to either an OME kit or a TJB kit or possibly a mix up with some Bilsteins and while I'm at it new bushes all round possibly poly.

So whats peoples experiences with these kits, my internet research gives nothing bad about OME and all I've found about TJM is some people find the ride a little hard.

What are the benifits of poly and I read somewhere they can be noisy is this true and is it worth the con for the pros.

This is part of my 100,000 rebuild for this XJ building, a nice little pile of bits to do a major overhaul in the near future ordered some 8mm Magnecor leads today got a UJ and transmission filter kit from Ebay, a couple of diff covers my rear one is rusted through.

So it's a big job but I'll take some before and after pics to show you.

Got a Rubi kit with the OME shocks.  Love the OME stuff.  Real stable on road and off.  Nothin beats this thing in off camber stuff. It costs a lot more but OME is worth it.

Took delivery of an OME kit on Thursday from Surrey offroad.  It was an excellent price a tad over £800 but included a set of poly bushes a gearbox spacer and new shackles.

So a weekend soon my tired old jeep will see a new suspension, a new UJ, two diff covers and a full oil and others stuff service.  Might even throw on a set of A/T's and try those.
