Tach intermittent

1995 Cherokee - the tacho has just started to stick a bit, goes up to 2K then hangs there, sometimes it will start to work OK other times it doesn't drop back until you are at idle. Any clues where to look appreciated. Everything else works just fine.  Johnboy
