Mahindra Hard Top
« on: March 01, 2009, 07:03:56 PM »

Not sure where to post this really.

Anyone ever seen a SWB Mahindra Hard Top, was there a hard top option or did anybody make aftermarket ones?

Asking 'cos the rag top on mine is disintegrating at a rate of knots.

I'll soon have an open top if I don't bodge it back together this week, a 12" tear opened up in the tail flap this afternoon!

Thats steep but you only gotta buy it once, then you've got a bit (not much tho) of security.

I've learnt from me CJs soft tops are a pain in the ass, I'd rather run a hard top with a bikini top for nice days.

Still, if they're rare I ain't goin on a wild goose chase after one, aint got the spare time.

Does the CJ340 top look any better than the dogs dinner they fitted to the MM540?

Hmmmmm.........NICE

I'm bound to get accused of racism here but I reckon the Indians have NO sense of vehicle styling

Maybe it wouldn't look too bad under a layer o' camo paint.

Alternatively....... maybe I could adapt a top from an UNMENTIONABLE 4x4.

Err.... no

Thats too horrible to even think about, I'll have nightmares about it tonight.

Mindy SWB Hardtops are rarer than rockin horse poop.

They were an optional extra but I can't recall who the manufacturer was. Peeps have looked for em before and never found one. The CJ3B did have aftermarket Hardtops back in the distant mists of time but they are no longer supplied.

You only real option is a Bestop soft top or maybe a replacement roof skin from Mastercovers. The bestop is complete ie. all the frames and doors etc. Mastercovers will supply the roof skin on its own for about £200.

Not really any solution then.
Bestop will be about £750 (as much as the mindy cost)

Roof skin alone leaves me with crap doors (zips are foooked)

If I'm gonna fork out ££££ might as well get summat made to me own spec.
