Right have been onto Hills salvage who supplied the diff and they aint got anouther one so there gonna refund my money :shock: ), so including getting the knackered diff fitted in the first place, the postage, and getting it took off again Im £300 out of pocket :cry:

Will keep you posted as to what happens next!

Have a word with citizens advice and trading standards... not sure, but you may have more rights than you think with the new axle being "Unfit for purpose" and all that.....

Did you pay by credit card? if so. you may be able to reclaim your money from them and make the salvage place pick up the part...

Anything free is worth trying.

Well what im gonna do is run her for th min, as little as possible, find some sort of replacement, and get Hills to pick the old one up on the day the new one arrives. Which is where you guys come in!
After all is said and done I have £528 to spend, and I know you guys mentioned stuff on 4wd.com and a frew other sites. I could look round sites all day long and not know what im looking for as far as diff gear stuff goes. So I was hoping that maybe you one of you guys could point me in the direction of £528 worth stuff to sort of the 35 problem or the like, as I know just a little more about diffs than a hampster knows about diffs.

So if anything exsits for £528ish that can help me out, well point the way fellas. Cheers all :smt023

well dont worry about fitting costs, there are enough of us here who know how to spanner to get it fitted, if you were closer to me you could put it in our barn while we fix it.
Not up on dana axles that much, and I doubt a landy sailsbury would fit :lol:

Would that S35 kit fit a ZJ? Pops right inside the existing diff housing right?
And do you recon I would have to take it to Jeep to get the diff gubbins out in?

Ring & Pinion. The two gears in ya diff. The 'NEW' axle will have them in, so shouldn't need any.

Not sure if that kit will fit, but if it don't they probably make one that does :wink:

for about £900 i could build you a ford 8.8
or about £2000 a new strengthened one from the states
£1500 for a pair of d44's with high steer on the front one
the list is endless.
you drive the grand hard offroad and the D35 cant keep p with your demands

D35's are crap end of story

I did say about the Ford 8.8's after the last blown diff but £2000 was a bit steep. £900 sounds good though SJ. :wink:

a rather bullit proof rear axle now fitted to ford excursions expeditions and exploders

8.8 = 8.8" rp housing

asuming i can get a explorer axle cheap enough 8 hours conversion work to the axle and its a complete bolt on to the grand. or i could get the conversion parts sent over from the states find your own axle and a good welder and you are sorted

the other option is a yota rear axle indistructable but you would need to regear to 4.56 or 4.88 as thats what the yota are
