Well done matey... are you taking it to MJs to get it done or getting a local place to do it?

Still not 100% sure what you need to do with this axle yet... Think it's still going to break your budget :(

To be honest if I can get the bomb proof explorer on it i recon I can go a littel over budget as it will be cost efective in the long run!

You'll probably have to regear it, it'll need the correct spring perches and shock and track bar brackets welded on, plus the plumbing for the brakes, ABS sensors (which may be a problem if you want it to work properly) and parking brake cables.

All the axles on Mahindras are dana 44's and run on leaf springs.
If you can get it modded to fit i can try and help you sort a rear disc conversion for it if you keep the original stud pattern.

We give our Mahindras major grief at our local site so i would same these are damn near bomb proof

The 5.2L and 5.9L V8 ZJs had the D44 fitted, but you're very unlikeley to find one over here. I wonder how close a TJ D44 is to fitting under a ZJ?
Basically any axle that wasn't made for a ZJ is going to need some mods to the mounting bracketry and will probably need regearing.

if you def going the ford 8.8 route
check the markings on the axel to list below

Specs:
Code Capacity Ratio
43 Open 3200 3.08
41 Open 3200 3.27
42 Open 4.10
46 Open 3.73
45 Open 3200 3.55
D4 Limited Slip 3200 3.73
D2 Limited Slip 4.10
L73 Limited Slip 3.73
L - Limited Slip Differential
C - Conventional Differential

if you know what ratio your running at the moment
you maybe lucky and find one with the right gearing in
just modding the mountings then  :weedman:

Thats quite nice!
Maybe the ZJ was a dog from the begining I just didnt see it.

I suppose the other option is to put the 35 in, save pennys untill after xmas and do the super 35 conversion! With no extreme frodin between times, and putting a 35 in doesnt exceed our limited budget at the min. Would love to get it sorted and bomb proofed, but just cant do it at the min. All your ideas and thoughts and more ideas on the diff have been greatly valued and appreciated by me and Em but sadly nowt comes in under budget. So if Birtys go back to Ribbo and we are there in the next 3 or 4 months DONT LET ME GO AND PLAY IN THE WOODS!

Well apart from the diff there are a few new developments! :(

The master brake cylinder has gone, pedal travels all the way to the floor and I have trouble stopping her!  And you know that noise I tould you lot about, the big ends noise that happens somtimes when she takes in a little water? Well the noise is back, and without the water intake
And i think the power steering motor has gone as the steering is hard and on its last leggs, makes that loud wooshing sound when you rev her up.

Am starting to wonder if its even worth while spending the cash to get her put right, or to sell her off as spares or repair :(
