Anyone backflush??
« on: October 13, 2005, 01:57:45 PM »

Those of you who backflush (stop sniggering!), Would any of you be interested in something i've been using for years to clean out the coolant system?

Its called the Flush 'n' Fill by Prestone. Its real simple, Tee's into one of the heater hoses (it stays there permanently), attach the spout to the radiator filler hole, attach the garden hose, and everything gets pushed out into a receptacle of your choice. Especially great if you run a good flushing cleaner for the day before.

Extra benefit is it becomes (usually) the highest point of the coolant system. Leave the cap off when filling the rad, and hear all the air coming out and NOT getting stuck. Lovely.

Link

You can't get them here (probably because they are a good idea!), so if some of you are interested, i'll have a couple of mates go down to the local "halfords" in the US and pick some up. They cost a whopping $5-6 (about £3). Worth it? I think so.

I'm not promoting or pitching a product, just mentioning something that i think is a great idea.  [/url]

For that kind of money it's gotta be worth it.  Even if it's put away for 'later'

Stick me down for one.

Anyone found somewhere to buy these in the UK at all??

I want to give the cooling system a good clean out and refresh before thw winter so if I can get one, whats a good flush/cleaner to use to loosen up those deposits?

Cheers.

I can recommend these. Bought one about four months ago. Should have seen the shit that came out of my cooling system. And the heater works now.
Also great for filling the cooling system without getting any airlocks.

Here's an old thread that I thought I'd comment on.

Had one of these Prestone Flush n Fill Kits shipped over from the US last week, used it at the weekend and WOW so simple and effective!!  :-D

Great little gadget and thoroughly recommended!

Still can't see that you can get them in the UK though
