ball joint help
« on: November 02, 2010, 09:05:35 PM »

can anyone tell me some info on ball joints for a 2.5td  ltd xj 1998 facelift

call local car factor today looking for one top ball joint.

he said he had one listed, but it was for year 1996-1998,a lot of websites on the net and ebay state its the same ball joint for 1984-2001.....is there a change over point in the production around 98 and are the 98 to 2001 ball joints going to be the same, cant see why the shop book stated 96-98,ordered it anyway.......£12.00 not bad it it fits.

regards brian

just finished doing the front ns ball joints.

my tips

do the full side top and bottom

buy a ball joint press

use local car factor for getting parts

take your time and try and do it inside, doing this in the pouring rain is no joy i tell you.

look at some of the youtube vids for guidence, this is an easy job,but you do need that press, garage would have charged a fortune do change these out and you will learn from doing this yourself, once you have done one side the other side should be done faster as you will know where you are going.

job done, very happy, will do other side when we get better weather in the spring.

regards to all
