Not sure it's the same but EBay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-01-JEEP-GRAND-CHEROKEE-3-1L-DIESEL-BRAKE-SWITCH-/360294083672?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e3336c58

I would recommend main dealer part!!!
So would I, I believe the last new one I bought was cheaper than that used one.

mend it?

So Mr. smart alec explain me this :

Spent some time upside down under the dash just now and :

- On the brake pedal there is a flat bit that connects with the switch plunger.  When you depress the pedal the plunger comes out and activates the brake-lights.
- Checked the fuse and found it was blown.  Replace fuse and brake lights come on instantly and remain on & find that brake pedal is not connecting with plunger which is odd.
- Find a bit of 3 mill. sticky back felt (for under legs of chairs to prevent scratching wood floors) stick on pedal, relase pedal, pedal connects, lights go out.
- pump a few times and lights work fine.
- Drive around the square and MIL light (&limp home mode) still very much in evidence.

The plunger ratchets in and out, You may have accidentally pulled the brake pedal up higher than it's meant to go at some point. If you pull it out one click (it's quite hard) you can get rid of your packing piece. However, this is a double switch, one circuit does the brake lights, but both are monitored by various systems and they have to both work correctly and simultaneously or they will throw up various faults. Try disconnecting the battery for a minute and see if it comes out of limp mode.

 :icon_winkle:

Naaaaaahhhh.......no go.....would have been toooo easy.  MIL and faultcodes still active.

Since this switch does multiple circuits I must assume that it is fubar (busted fuse would be the indicator).

And before before I forget, thanks for all your help.   :PDT_Armataz_01_37:

I think its a phonecall to the dealer first thing tomorro and see where that takes me.
