Warn Winch related not Jeep related help needed
« on: January 27, 2011, 05:21:08 PM »

Right here goes.Picked up a Warn XD9000i last week cheap.Been untested and obviously not used for a while.Has no rope and no controller.First job i did was to free up the freespool lever as it was siezed then i decided to take the gearbox off.All looked good,no broken teeth or signs of wear,so cleaned it up and regreased and refitted. Then began on the motor side, again not too bad, just a bit of crud and rusting through not being used.Cleaned it all off, brushes all really good, lubricated, and able to turn drum now by hand, all good i thought.
Today i found out a wireless remote controller i bought a while back and fitted that after looking on the internet for wiring diagrams, and it was quite simple.Inside the bridge, all was good, just cobwebs and dirt,no rust or signs of abuse, cleaned off the connections and wired the remote in.Cant get nothing to happen though,no clicking no nothing,so i wondered if there is a way of bypassing the solienoids to make sure the motor is okay, and also is there a way of testing the solenoids themselves?Or is it a case of getting a working solenoid and trying it that way?Any info apppreciated, physical help appreciated even more. :icon_winkle:

some jump leads(sparking will occur!) on the terminals will test the motor out and the solenoid coils should all read the sameish resistance reading with a multimeter but it sounds like either the remote is duff or it has no power! you havent bought a 24V one by accident have you? :icon_redface:

Have you checked that the transmitter is paired with the receiver?
