On my 2009 G Cherokee dashboard , located just behind the reverse sensor display, is what looks like an oversized led. It doesnt light up though.

What is it ? not sure if its alarm or climate system

not sure i think theyre covered by the unit up behind the mirror . Dont know for sure though

It's the sun sensor, used for auto headlights.

its the sense sensor not normally known to come on

If it's like earlier systems, it's a solar sensor, it helps the climate control regulate cabin temperature.

Sun sensor makes a lot of sense, not sure it does the headlights though

yes i thought that unit did the lights too ?

most do but it does also depend on the manufacturer, but Mike has extensive factory knowledge so i'm not disagreeing with his advice

Probably something to do with climate control stuff...best not to cover it..
