Ok, I give up!I have a heavy clanking sound from back, near side I think when hitting a speed bump or other similar size bump. It is worse when the car is carrying some weightI've been all over the underneath and can find nothing.Recently it was MOT'd no suspension faults found, last week it went in to auto box specialist who sorted a solenoid, he heard the noise and went over every piece of suspension with a long prise bar and found nothing.I've just spent today looking again, found rear bumper was a little loose, where the bracket bolts to tow bar inside the rail, replaced bolts and its all tight again. That has got rid of one noise but the bigger noise is still there. Only thing i can think of is shock absorber, had a look, a push and a pull seems ok, old but nothing moving.Could a shagged shock cause such a noise? Any other suggestions? Exhaust is new and not fouling anything, spare is tight. Really sounds like a flat piece of heavy metal slapping against another.I know diagnosing noises is nearly impossible on line but apart from replacing shocks I am out of ideas! Sometimes its just good to vent
